Contemporary full black calf, sides ruled with intricate gilt foliate borders and decorated with central gilt foliate design, spine with raised bands and gilt-decorated compartments, yellow-coated endpapers, all edges gilt. 4 pages of partial used family register, 41 steel engraved plates after John Martin et al., including 2 engraved titles, 2 frontispieces, and 2 hand-coloured maps. Occasional offsetting and light spotting, some inevitable light shelfwear, generally a most handsome and impressive Victorian Bible. An excellent example of a Victorian Bible, this copy significantly larger and more impressive than usual.
