2 volumes bound in one. Large folio (37x27x10 cm). Contemporary full black calf, sides ruled with intricate gilt foliate borders and decorated with central gilt foliate design, spine with raised bands and gilt-decorated compartments, yellow-coated endpapers, all edges gilt. 4 pages of partial used family register, 41 steel engraved plates after John Martin et al., including 2 engraved titles, 2 frontispieces, and 2 hand-coloured maps. Occasional offsetting and light spotting, some inevitable light shelfwear, generally a most handsome and impressive Victorian Bible. An excellent example of a Victorian Bible, this copy significantly larger and more impressive than usual.
