8vo. [190 x 125 x 40]. iv, 302 pp. Bound in publisher's black cloth, with lettering in light green to the spine. (Marking to the spine and covers, with the boards out of square and some foxing to the extremities). Richard Patrick Russ is the birth name of the Irish novelist Patrick O'Brian. This is the tale of an Indian boy named Hussein, set in the days of the Raj. It was Russ's third published work, and the first contemporary fiction book to be published by the Oxford University Press.
