Vol. I, xvi + 224 pp.; Vol. II, [iv] + 202 pp. Bound in tree calf; spine in compartments with gilt bands and contrasting maroon morocco title label, gilt. Early signatures on first free endpaper and recto of frontispiece (1816). Illustrated by portrait frontispiece. Extremities worn, including spine, foxing largely confined to flyleaves and margins of frontispiece stained; otherwise a very good copy. The two parts of The Improvement of the Mind bound as one. It was first published in 1741; the preface to the second, signed by D. Jennings and P. Doddridge, was dated 1751, but publication of the full edition does not seem to have occurred until 1753.
