Georgius Gruppenbachius, Tübingen 1578. 4to. (12)+867+(8)+1 pages. Woodcut printer's device on titlepage. Contemporary full brown calf on wood boards with raised bands and rich blindtooled decorations. Traces of clasps (brass hinges on front board. Title calligraphed by first owner on front edge. Spine with discreet reparation. Inscriptions (1579 and somewhat later) on front endpaper. Name (1635) on titlepage. 19th century inscription in Danish (Assens & Hindsgavl Amtsbibliothek) on titlepage). Lower corner of titlepage with tear. * Lucas Osiander (1534-1604) was a German pastor of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Württemberg and a composer of Lutheran church music. This beautifully bound book seems to have been purchased by a Danish preacher, Petrus Theogerus Vibergius (Peder Thøger Viborg) shortly after publication, in Copenhagen July 4th 1579 (inscription on front endpaper). In 1639, it has been acquired by another Dane, Peter Bagger, after being owned from 1635 by Peter Reimer (Copenhagen) ( inscription on titlepage). Seller Inventory # 897740
