Each volume is illustrated with black & white drawings and diagrams and photos, some folding, the pages are free from foxing, light tanning to half titles and last pages, some spotting and light stain to edges, loose folding plate in volume V opposite p1128, floral decorated endpapers, each volume has the publisher's decorative bookplate with the name G A Holland written in, glazed maroon cloth, rounded edges, gilt lettering to spines and upper boards, cloth a little discoloured in places, spines uniformly sunned, joints and ends a little rubbed.
