Fruens breve tegner et spillevende billede af et gnistrende temperament med st�rke sym- og antipatier og barske kommentarer til livet i K�benhavns f�rende kredse.** Indsat er et originalbrev fra fru Heiberg, stilet til en pastor Stein, samt to originalbreve fra Krieger stilet 'H�jt�rede Kollega'. Exlibris forrest i b�gerne giver initialerne J.S. [billedhuggeren og professor i anatomi Johan Theobald Stein (1829-1901)], som sandsynligvis er modtageren af Kriegers breve, mens pastor Stein kan have v�ret hans broder Harald Stein (1840-1900).
