'Junius' submitted a series of letters to the Public Advertiser between January 21, 1769 and January 21, 1772; in the same year, a collection of the Advertiser letters, along with other more personal ones, were published in a collection entitled Letters of Junius. The anonymous author's most pressing concern was the government's creeping infringement of constitutional rights and freedoms. This edition includes Junius's extensive correspondence with the radical journalist and politician John Wilkes, as well as his letters to Harry Sampson Woodfall, the printer and part-owner of the Public Advertiser. The identity of Junius was hotly debated at the time of publication, and continues to be the topic of some debate.
