(Leeds: Leeds City Council n.d. 1980's). First UK Edition. A softcover. There are two two minor creases along the spine otherwise a fine copy. A 26-page softcover production produced by the Planning and Development Committee of the Leeds City Council to advise the citizens of Leeds as to the possible consequences of a nuclear attack on the City. The booklet "sets out an objective picture of what could happen to our community, family and friends". The booklet was the idea of, and devised by, Bryan North, the Chairman of the Planning and Development Committee. The purpose of the booklet was to outline the likely blast, burn and fall-out damage that might be caused by a one-megaton bomb if it exploded in a medium-sized city, in this case Leeds. It includes estimated casualties and fatalities and the type of injuries that people might suffer. Laid in is the scarce one page insert: "Who can I contact about nuclear weapons"? and "Leeds City Council's Views on the Bomb". The booklet sold 60,000 copies at the time and went into 3 reprints but has now virtually disappeared. A valuable contribution to the nuclear debate and public awareness at the time. For further information as to how this rare booklet came to be produced see Mike Povey's excellent blogs. Note: this is the original pamphlet from the 1980's. Photographs/scans available upon request. Rare.…
