1927. New Edition. 421 pages. No dust jacket. Tan cloth covered boards with gilt. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. End papers are more notably tanned. Previous owner's inscription to front free end-paper. Remains of plate to front paste-down. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1951 reprint of 1945 edition. The jacket is in poor condition, with a large taped tear to the back and spine edge, some large chips, an horizontal tear to the stained spine. Nonetheless, it is still serviceable. Not price clipped. The boards show light scuffing to the edges, more the spine head with a small split, an area near the tail back edge is slightly crushed and pimpled. Name plate to front paste-down. The leaves are tight and in very good condition. The pages are clean. Light soiling and staining to the text block edges, offset staining to the end papers. A clean and crisp hardback reprint in a decent, lightly shelf worn dust jacket which has been price-clipped at the bottom of its front inside flap. No previous ownership names. There is a bit of foxing to the top edge, but the green boards are clean and fresh, the hinges are sound and secure and the contents are clean and complete, with all the illustrations present. The clipped dust jacket is clean, but a bit creased, rubbed and chipped at the extremities. Overall, a nice hardback copy in a jacket with some shelf wear.
