Item description from seller

FIRST EDITION, half-title and final page of text faintly browned, the odd spot encroaching onto page-borders, pp. 80, 8vo, original quarter natural linen with blue boards, backstrip lettered in dark blue, uneven fading to baords, some light rubbing and soiling, the cloth a little spotted, top edge blue, tohe others untrimmed and spotted, light browning and spotting to endpapers also, good. The author was later the wife of Graham Greene, and a Blackwell's employee - here just fifteen years old. The book includes a number of war poems, as well as some on flowers and places visited (Cornwall, Stratford, the British Museum). The endorsement of her mother, to whom a number of the poems and the volume as a whole is dedicated comes in the form of a 'Note' preceding the text - whilst family friend G.K. Chesterton provides an Introduction.
