An excellent set of the first US publications of Tolkien's masterpiece; the second volume with the publisher's promotional card laid in, using Lorraine's drawing of Frodo and Auden's quote praising the earlier instalment (both featured on the dustjacket) - listing the publication date (April 21st), and assuring interested parties that 'devotees of the hobbits are growing in number.
