Item description from seller

(London: The Nonesuch Press 1931). Octavo (22 x 15 cm.), [7], 127, [1] pages. Illustrated with ten full-page and one smaller drawing, plus a decoration on the title-page, all by Thomas Lowinsky. LIMITED EDITION in DUSTWRAPPER of 500 copies (this being # 202). Printed at the Fanfare Press in London on Batchelor Kelmscott hand-made paper. Publisher's brick-red cloth over quarter brown buckram, gold-blocked with roundels; gilt-titled spine, top edge trimmed. No inscriptions. A fine copy in a near very good dustwrapper which is darkened to the spine and with moderate wear (not affecting any lettering). The dustwrapper is printed solely with the two-word title on the front panel and the words Limited Edition to the inside flap. [Bitting, page 294, Dreyfus 79, Myers 14]. Quite scarce in dustwrapper due to the fragility of the thin paper used. A rare survival. Emilie Lowinsky (nee Hirsch, 1893-1958), was a Jewish English society hostess and food writer. Her husband, the surrealist painter Thomas Esmond Lowinsky (1892-1947), provided illustrations for this, her first book. At the rear of the book is a Hostess Notebook which has not been filled in. Further photographs available upon request.…
