This book approaches a fundamental question: How did we humans come to possess language? Its author argues that language is an intricate phenomenon with humble beginnings. By examining the evolution of language—particularly English—the author traces words back to their roots. This analysis reveals that the roots of all human language consist of approximately 400 basic syllables, which are expressions of universal human experiences, such as pushing or bearing.
