A little age related wear and occasional foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Armourial bookplate of James Rondeau (possibly James Rondeau of Clerkenwell, 1756-1828). Illustrated by engraved frontispiece. Second edition of a work of fiction, published anonymously, by Henry Mackenzie of Edinburgh (1745-1831), Scottish lawyer and tax official, novelist and playwright. It is a sentimental study, influence by Rousseau, of a weak but benevolent man, whose innocence is exploited by those around him.
