Eighth Edition, revised and corrected, with an Appendix. 8vo. hardback in red decorative cloth, gilt. x, 924pp. (including Appendix), with 3pp. Advertisements at front and same at end. Illustrated with 2pp. colour frontispiece of types of wood plus 850 b/w wood engravings within the text. Large Workshop Sheets mentioned on title page do not appear to have ever been bound-in. Old ink name and address and modern bookplate to front pastedown. Small newspaper clipping pasted to verso of half title. Occasional light foxing, mainly to prelims and foredge. Front inner hinge slightly slack but binding generally nice and firm. Some light fading and wear to top and base of spine with small areas of loss. Lower board lightly soiled. Overall a Good+ Copy. Canterbury is close to London (about 1 1/2 hours by train) and only 30 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel. The Chaucer Bookshop is situated in a beautiful 18th Century building inside Canterbury's city walls. The building was originally one house but was established as a bookshop in 1956. The adjoining property was also later acquired and the bookshop greatly extended. Amongst the wide range of books (on 2 floors) you will find art, architecture, history, English literature, topography, travel, food and wine, railways and many more. We have a variety of original prints and maps for sale and a selection of modern First Editions and fine bindings. We also stock a comprehensive range of Fine Art greetings cards and wrapping paper.
