Some wear to extremities, including spine and foxing of board and page edges and occasional margins. Browning of title label and flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by frontispiece protected by tissue guard, by 42 leaves of black and white plates and by 151 text figures. A well illustrated history of mazes and labyrinths from early Egyptian and Cretan examples to later church, turf and hedge mazes with chapters on labyrinth etymology and design. Written by William Henry Matthews (1882-1948) after his return from service on the Western Front (My Father, W. H. Matthews - Zeta Eastes website).
