About this Item
Small 8vo. Hardcover. Pp. 242. In very good condition, with slight shelf-wear to the cover, including small tears most notably on the upper corners, and top and bottom of spine. Blue cloth boards with gilt title on cover and spine. Slight creasing along the edges and other faint scuffs/ markings. Dust-jacket unclipped. Very small pencil marking on the inside of the dust-jacket, and very few pencil numbers in upper corners for unpaginated pages. Please note that the title page is included and intact, but rather than being at the front, it appears after a number of pages. There appears to be some text stamped at the bottom left of p. 130, potentially a printing error, and while it overlaps with some of the text printed on the page, everything is still very readable. Otherwise pages are clean with light foxing, and no significant tears or markings. From the dust-jacket, "The author tries to understand and explain what is perhaps the most difficult and the most complicated subject in Mughul Indian History - the Mansabdari System. Every effort has been made to make the treatment comprehensive and up-to-date in the light of recent research and fresh material. More reliance is placed on facts than on theory. Concrete instances have been cited in abundance to enable the reader to judge for himself.". Seller Inventory # 036508
