Masters of the Colour Print 7. Bresslern-Roth.

pp.6 plus eight tipped-in colour plates of woodcuts. 4to. Nr. fine hardback in vg. dw. with sunning to spine and closed tears to rear panel. Although not inscribed, from the library of ornithologist, artist, illustrator, author and editor Robert Gillmor MBE (purchased by us in May 2023). Loosely inserted are a colour photocopy of a Bresslern-Roth print with notes by Gillmor regarding a 2006 auction of said print, together with a photocopied article about Bresslern-Roth and three pages from ‘The Studio’ periodical of 1927 containing an article about Bresslern-Roth’s work. A delightful insight into the life and work of Norbertine von Bresslern-Roth (1891-1978) the Austrian painter and printmaker. She was known for pioneering the linocut print technique so it’s probably not a surprise to find this work in the library of Robert Gillmor.
