A book of pictures of Phillippe Mohlitz's fantasy lithographs. Phillippe Mohlitz was born in Bordeaux and became one of the leading figures for a new generation of French printmakers. Influenced by Odilon Redon and Rodolphe Bresdin, Mohlitz brought to the art of engraving a freedom of line and profusion in detail rarely seen in contemporary etching. In his densely engraved prints he creates a world that is slowly revealed over repeated close viewings, a world that is underpinned by an almost classical preoccupation with, and brilliant execution of, composition and light. Mohlitz's work can be found in public collections throughout Europe and North America, including the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum.
