In very good condition. - The material summarized in the two monographs which comprise this volume is the outgrowth of the work of two different sections of the Kris Study Group, both under the chairmanship of Dr. Rudolph Loewenstein. The discussions of the two groups were carried on in the academic years of 1958-59 and 1960-61, and only a few members of the first set of participants were present in the second group. It is noteworthy that each section proceeded, as is customary for the Kris Study Group, from the examination of its own current clinical material, and that the contributions derived from each study are complementary and mutually reinforcing. In certain respects the major emphases and interests are different in each group, but it is hoped that the authors will have succeeded in conveying the constantly stimulating and fructifying impact each portion of the discussion provided for the participants at the time. These studies, carried on in the years shortly following the death of Ernst Kris, sjrow the mark not only of his interest in this particular subject, but of his sense of enthusiasm combined with scientific rigor in the exploration of clinical and theoretical questions in psychoanalysis.
