This quality book chronicles the life and times of the little car trailer only manufactured for two years - 1936 and 1937. However, the Red Cap has endured and been endeared for over sixty years. Contained in 184 high-gloss pages are more than 170 black and white and color photographs, along with technical information, reproductions of original factory specifications and photographs, and information from the Mullins Owners Club Red Cap Review newsletter.
The hardcover book with its attractive full-color dust jacket is not only for the Mullins enthusiast but for anyone interested in American transportation and social history.
Author Robert Parmelee has been involved with the Mullins Trailer for almost 20 years. He served as co-founder and Vice-President of the Mullins Owners club, as well as publisher of the club newsletter, the Red Cap Review. He has done extensive research on the subject, traveling and interviewing former Mullins employees, including the trailer patent holder, and visiting the old Mullins manufacturing plants, a few of which are still standing. He has gathered, and reproduced here, many factory photographs and documents from several sources. A number of current and former Mullins Red Cap owners have also provided some interesting stories and technical information.
