Item description from seller

Small broad folio 14 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches- very handsomely leather bound in a later half calf with ornate gilt spine and a red leather lettering label, in good solid condition. Title, (ii), pages numbered 1-874 but with anomalies, however text complete as issued. ILLUSTRATED WITH 100 ENGRAVED PLATES- each plate within an ornate engraved border. Possibly bound without the list of subscribers and Warrant for the Execution of Charles I - but it is not known if these where actually included in this edition. The title calls for 100 plates as in this edition and the list of plates calls for 96 plates. There appears to have been several issues of this work from 1777 to this one where the history ends at 1782. It includes the American War of Independence. Amongst these informative engravings are 5 fine plates of naval battles and 3 maps by Bowen. The occasional spot but a very good crisp copy of this solid illustrated historical compendium.
