47pp. Late 19th-century three-quarter calf and marbled boards. Original front wrapper bound in, with presentation inscription. Extremities worn, old unobtrusive blindstamp on titlepage. Internally clean and nice. Very good. John R. Bartlett's copy, with his signature on the front wrapper, and a presentation inscription from the author: ".with the compliments of C.P. Clever." Clever was a delegate to Congress from New Mexico. In this interesting pamphlet he devotes much space to a description of the mineral resources of New Mexico, finally outlining the importance of building a western railroad from Memphis, through New Mexico, terminating in San Diego, California. A nice association copy, once owned by John R. Bartlett, author of PERSONAL NARRATIVE OF EXPLORATIONS IN TEXAS, NEW MEXICO, CALIFORNIA. (1854).
