The Novels [Works] of Jane Austen. The Text based on Collation of the Early Editions by R. W. Chapman. With Notes, Indexes and Illustrations from Contemporary Sources.

Comprising: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. An erudite edition compiled by the noted Austen scholar, R.W. Chapman, with extensive appendixes and addenda, including 'Miss Austen's English', 'Modes of Address', 'Carriages and Travel', 'The Topography of Bath' and a biographical note on the author. Second edition thus; 6 volumes bound as five, 8vo (205 x150 mm); with occasional half-tone plates, mild toning, the odd, very minor speck or mark, else near-fine internally; later half-green morocco over marbled boards, top edge gilt, others untrimmed as published, very good indeed.
