"While not a book of hunting adventures, this slender work does provide plenty of information on choosing a big-game rifle as well as the varieties of game encountered in Nyasaland. Several of the plates depict the spoor of wild beasts, a theme Lyell continued in later works. As he notes: 'To spoor an animal for miles is far more interesting than killing it, for tracking game is the highest branch of good hunting.' Of additional interest are the ads at the end of the book depicting all manner of British sporting firearms, ammunition, and equipment." p173 Czech. Seller Inventory # 23901
