Original vintage travel advertising poster for KLM Royal Dutch Air Lines Amsterdam Batavia Twice Weekly featuring a great design depicting a cutaway of a Douglas DC-3 propeller plane showing passengers relaxing on comfortable reclining seats with luggage in the back and pilots in the cockpit flying over a globe with the airline route marked in yellow on the world against the blue background. Artwork by Paul Erkelens (b. 1912). KLM (Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij / Royal Dutch Airlines; since 1919) is the flag carrier of the Netherlands. Batavia was the capital of the Dutch East Indies until Indonesia gained its independence in 1949 when the city was renamed Jakarta (located in Southeast Asia on Java island).
