The text includes these sections: Earth Across Continents; People Across Continents; Hands Across Continents. With numerous illustrations, including several in color. Two B&W maps. Calligraphy by Naoaki Sakamoto. A strikingly clean interior; the book almost certainly unread, and the text block still tight. With a plain, medium-duty card slipcase, with crisp black lettering to the spine. A Fine copy in a Fine slipcase. Scarce in any condition. 3 lbs. 7 oz. This book was published to accompany the exhibition PAPER NAO / Naoaki Sakamoto and bookbinder Ernst Rasmussen. With thanks to Michel Soskine Inc. for the following: "Naoaki Sakamoto [b. 1948] has been involved with Nihon-shi (handmade Japanese paper) for decades. He began experimenting with papermaking, later on started dyeing it and finally drawing on it. Just as in all Japanese art forms, Zen Buddhism has a major influence on Naoaki Sakamoto's work. Inside the process of creating his works on paper, lays [sic] a spiritual discipline, which leads Sakamoto to focus on the contemplation and meditation of Nature, whether it is of a Japanese, Australian or Irish origin. [His artworks] remain faithful to the artist's commitment and respect for the mysterious nature of the four elements, all combined in Zen aesthetics.". Seller Inventory # 008297
