Synopsis
All parents wonder if they're making the right decisions with their kids and teens. They fret over behavioral issues, and they often feel inadequately prepared or ill-equipped to deal with challenges that arise. Parenting coaches Sheila Dinaburg-Azoff PsyD, a pediatric psychologist, and Joan L. Reynolds MS, a learning specialist, offer a fresh message for parents seeking answers and advice: YOU are the best expert when it comes to parenting your own child.
The authors wrote this workbook to help parents gain confidence in their own intuitions, and to use their knowledge and wisdom to answer the important question, "Why do I make the choices I make?"
Parenting in Your Own Voice doesn't tell you how to parent your child. Instead, it guides you in a step-by-step process to discover more about yourself and your child. You'll get to see your child from multiple new perspectives, including personality traits, learning styles, intelligences, and creative talents. Armed with this newfound information, you'll have the confidence to parent your child, your way.
Over the course of 12 chapters, designed to be worked through either individually or in a parenting group, you'll create the building blocks to assemble a customized parenting plan, a blueprint based on your individual values, parenting priorities, and insights you've gained about the needs, strengths, and character of your own child.
Exercises, self-assessments, child assessments, and "Try This" activities bring the authors' messages to life and turn this into a hands-on learning experience for parents.
