12mo, pp. v, [i], 60, 16. Original textured purple cloth, printed paper labels to front board, edges sprinkled red. Just a touch of spotting. Spine a little sunned, labels slightly discoloured. Organist and composer John Freckleton Burrowes (1787-1852) first published his piano primer in 1818, and it remained in print through to the 20th century. This copy retains its printed paper advertising its reduced price of two shillings, an offer also printed on the title-page beneath the publisher?s imprint.
