FIRST EDITION, the paper faintly toned with one or two small spots to borders, pp. x, 54, crown 8vo, original white boards, lettered in brown to upper board, a little rubbed at foot of backstrip, top corners gently knocked and some faint spotting to boards, edges untrimmed and toned, faint browning to endpapers, original tissue jacket a little frayed at head, very good. Scarce. The author, Gordon Hannington Luce, attended Emmanuel College and was a Cambridge Apostle - his friendships there the basis for his peripheral association with the Bloomsbury Group. The book's printed dedication is to J.M. Keynes, whose support extended to financing publication through Macmillan. The sheets were subsequently used for the Hogarth Press edition a few years later (which added Duncan Grant illustrations).
