Frontispiece in red & black "Tabulated values of the Hands" & illustrations of hands in red & black throughout. 8vo (7 x 4 3/4 inches), pages vi:(1):119: (12, partly illustrated advertisements for poker tables, chips, cards, etc.), original red grained cloth lettered in gilt and decorated with 3 poker chips in colours, all edges gilt. Binding spotted and marked, spine dulled, but sound. Private book label on front pastedown and number, signature on recto of frontispiece. Tear to frontispiece tissue guard and tear into one leaf of text (without loss). Browning to title. Rare. "In the preparation of the Code have been sought the advice and co-operation of the most experienced and well-known players, both English and American, whose valued and cordially given assistance is herby gratefully acknowledged".
