The Power of Ethical Persuasion: Winning Through Understanding at Work and at Home

After millions of years of evolution, human beings have yet to master person-to-person communication. Although we seem to converse reasonably well, we often fail to truly understand one another, because we can't clearly express our feelings.

"What usually goes wrong in human communications is nobody's fault and everybody's problem," says Dr. Tom Rusk, and The Power of Ethical Persuasion is his practical, strategic program for revolutionizing our age-old, dead-end communication patterns. Through Ethical Persuasion, a way of motivating people to treat each other with greater respect, caring, and fairness, we can learn to resolve conflicts ethically—without bullying, histrionics, or passive-aggressive behavior. Best of all, by cultivating the habit of empathy, we can achieve a depth of insight and compassion that will make all of our relationships—whether at home or in the workplace—more rewarding than we dreamed possible.

TOM RUSK, MD, is the author of three previous self-help books: I Want to Change But I Don't Know How, Mind Traps, and Instead of Therapy.
