pp 112 A practical and detailed introduction to amateur play production including help with costume, scenery construction and rehearsals by BBC writer and School Drama Adviser, Mary Richards. The book is undated, late 1930's, well illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and diagrams. Ownership inscription to front end paper. Very good in green cloth, bumped to fore edge and corners, occasional marginal marks; in a fair dust jacket, chipped, and torn along the spine and the wrinkled lower cover, the lower flap is lacking. This book comes from the collection of the scientist and pioneer birth-control campaigner Marie Stopes (1880-1958) which was inherited by her son the philosopher Harry Stopes-Roe (1924-2014) and sold following the death of his widow Mary Stopes-Roe in May of this year. Mary was herself an academic and author, the daughter of the engineer and inventor of the bouncing bomb, Sir Barnes Wallis.
