Second Edition. [xxxii], 139, [1], [65], [1] pp. Half brown calf over marbled boards, with black title label, gilt bands and lettering to spine; all edges speckled. Rubbing and some wear all around edges, joints and to boards. Offsetting and occasional marks but otherwise generally internally clean. Section of the first blank prelim leaf missing (name cut?). Early ink inscription to the recto of the imprimatur, present here, but not in all copies (A1). Damage to the bottom corner of L3 with the loss of 4 letters. This, the second edition of the only prose work of priest and devotional poet George Herbert (1593-1633), has a new preface by Barnabas Oley. It's a book of advice to a country priest. Wing H1513. 12mo.
