Seventh edition. 228pp. 12mo. Recent half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting black morocco lettering-piece. Extremities a trifle marked. Lightly foxed, paper repairs to fore-edges of leaves D2-3 of first bound-work, else internally clean and crisp. A Dublin-printed edition of Anglican clergyman and founder of Methodism John Wesley's (1703-1791) examination of common ailments, ranging from baldness to breast cancer, which proved one of the most popular medical works of the eighteenth-century. First published in 1747, some 23 editions followed in the author's lifetime, with various remedies and authorial preferences added in successive editions. Wesley's book is bound here with a manual on the treatment of numerous maladies extracted from the works of Swiss physician Samuel Auguste David Tissot (1728-1797). Seller Inventory # AQ17441
