Second edition. 8vo, frontis., and 15 other plates, orig. wine cloth, gilt, inner hinges cracked, binding rubbed, top and base of spine chafed. [The club was formed by Mr. Robert Mathison, builder, Innerleithen, and Mr. Thomas Young, banker, Innerleithen, in response to requests for parties to be allowed to accompany them in their botanical and geological excursions in the Peeblesshire area. It is a mine of local information and a testament to the high quality of local talent and abilities available at that time. In addition to local members, the walks attracted conductors such as Dr. James Hunter, Professor Veitch, and the outstanding 19th century geologist Professor Geikie. The book contains a description of the excursions led by Professor Geikie to study the geology of the Manor Valley, on the 20th of July, 1889 and 25th of August, 1894. The other excursions cover a wide range of history, geology and botany.].
