In the preparation of my Teachers' Manual and Course of Study in History and Civics, many of the ablest and most practical superintendents and teachers in California were consulted, and from them much valuable assistance was secured. Many of these men and women urged the,p_�eparation of a pupil's outline for use in connection with this manual. This little volume is the result of that advice. It has been prepared expressly for use in connection with the larger volume, and is an exact duplicate of the topical outline and references which precede the various general topics in that volume. All the main topics and all the sub-topics, with their index letters, Roman numerals, figures and references, correspond exactly in these two volumes. All the discussions, which constitute the larger part of the Teachers' Manual, however, have been omitted in the Pupil's Outline. This has been done in order to insure the proper work on the part of the pupil.
