8vo, pp. [iv], 67; blank margin at head of title cut away (doubtless to remove a signature), foremargin of pp. 59-60 trimmed (again, no doubt, to remove notes); in modern boards. First and only edition of an anonymous criticism of the opinions of those who met at Button's coffee-house. The house had been established by Daniel Button, with Addison's encouragement, in 1712, and stood in opposition to Will's, which had been in decline since the death of Dryden. The tract is dedicated by 'C.N.' to Samuel Fuller, the new (and whiggish) MP for Petersfield, and with references to both Locke and Richard Steele in the dedication. The site of Button's, in Russell St, Covent Garden, is now a branch of Starbucks. Quite uncommon: only eleven copies are listed in ESTC.
