Synopsis
To learn to read and write successfully, children need a solid foundation of early literacy skills. Parents, the most important teachers in a young child s life, play a critical role in building these skills before their child gets to school. Speech-language pathologists Janice Greenberg and Elaine Weitzman have taken the most current research in emergent literacy and broken it down into fun, easy-to-use tips and strategies for promoting early literacy throughout the day. Filled with practical ideas, clear examples, and useful checklists, the I m Ready! guidebook helps even the busiest parent make early literacy-learning a part of every day. Taking a walk, reading a book, shopping for groceries... I m Ready! transforms all of these routines into enjoyable opportunities for parents to prepare their child for reading success.
