Vicar of Ash, Kent, later chaplain-general of the forces, author (DNB). Manuscript sermon in Gleig's hand, apparently unpublished. C. 20 pages, 8vo to mainly 4to, additions and corrections in his hand, with some cutting and pasting (hence variable page size). "No.1" appears on the bottom of the first page, with place and date (above), presumably indicating a series. From the archive of Richard Bentley, publisher, who may have cxonsidered publshing Gleig's sermons as he did his historical (and other) books in the 1830s and 40s ("Chelsea Pensioners", "Country Curate" Life of Warren Hastings, etc.) - see Michael Turner's list). The text of the sermon is Hebrews XI - 6 - He that cometh to God must believe that he is, [and] that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Image on request.
