Hand-coloured lithograph mounted in conservation materials suitable for framing, overall size 13 x 11 inches approx. Engraved surface including inner margin, 9 x 6.5 inches. View of Sandgate from the east, with the post-Napoleonic Castle, old chapel and buildings at the foot of Sandgate Hill and in the High Street beyond; distant view of Martello towers on the heights and along the shore of Hythe Bay. Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields. We also offer a bookbinding and restoration service. Visitors to the shop are welcome and we exhibit at UK book fairs.
