4to. 9.75 x 11.25 inches. 261 + [3] pp. Bound in original brown cloth with black titles. A fine copy. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white, including frontispiece. Catalogue with essays to accompany the Schwitters Arp exhibition held at the Kunstmuseum Basel in 2004. Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948), artist, sculptor and graphic designer, best known for his collages, was born in Hanover. He fled from the Nazis to Norway in 1937 and to Britain in 1940. After a period of internment as an enemy alien in the Isle of Man, he settled in London, and later in the Lake District. Hans Arp (1886-1968) was a German-French sculptor and painter, born in Strasbourg, who was influenced by Dadaist and Surrealist groups.
