In Second Line: A Sequence, acclaimed poet Al Maginnes invites readers on an evocative journey through grief, remembrance, and the enduring power of music. Each sonnet reflects on the lives of those we’ve lost, weaving a rich tapestry of emotions inspired by the vibrant cultural scene of Greenville, North Carolina. With heartfelt elegies that resonate with the soulful rhythms of jazz, Maginnes captures the struggle to find balance in a world where memories cling to us like melodies. This collection is not just a tribute to friends and artists who have departed; it’s a celebration of life, love, and the bittersweet beauty of improvisation. Join Maginnes as he navigates the complexities of aging and loss, reminding us all that each goodbye sparks a new beginning. Perfect for fans of lyrical poetry and those seeking solace in shared experiences of loss and joy.
