Sandra Post and Me: A Veteran Pro takes a New Golfer from First Swing to Tournament

In Sandra Post and Me, Loral Dean, a journalist and first-time golfer, and Sandra Post, the highest-achieving golfer Canada has ever produced, combine their talents to produce a golf book with a difference – a golf book for Everywoman.

From her first lesson with Sandra in late April, until mid-August, when she bravely joins Sandra and others in a mixed charity tournament, Loral records her thoughts, her growing knowledge of the game, and, most importantly and uniquely, the emotional ups and downs of her first season in a game that is notoriously full of peaks and valleys.

At the same time, in detailed instructional panels, Sandra guides Loral – and the reader – through the steps and skills that form the basis of a good game: the grip, the stance, lining up a shot, building a swing, the elements of putting and chipping, reading a course, and much more.

Illustrated with clear line drawings, punctuated with lively comments and tips by Sandra, this is an ideal book for the beginning golfer, and also for those who want to brush up on their game.

Sandra Post, the “Golden Canadian,” as she came to be known, won the LPGA Championship in her first year and was named 1968 Rookie of the Year. She went on to win eight more tournaments (including back-to-back wins in the prestigious Dinah Shore Golf Tournament in 1978 and 1979) – a record achievement. For the past decade, Sandra has pursued a successful teaching and broadcasting career. The Sandra Post School of Golf provides instruction to more than 800 students each year, from beginners to low-handicap players. Sandra has produced two instructional videos, and she is a golf analyst and commentator for CTV Sports, as well as a regular commentator for ABC Sports and ESPN in the United States. She is also executive editor of World of Women’s Golf, a national golf magazine.

Loral Dean is a Toronto writer and editor with over 25 years of experience in journalism and publishing. She is the co-author of Could Do Better.
