Item description from seller

ONE OF 150 COPIES (from an edition of 200 copies), printed on Zerkall Mill Book White Wove (engravings) & Silurian (text) papers, tipped-in frontispiece, 44 further engravings and 8 vignettes, erratum ('fault escaped') slip tipped-in, pp. [x], [ii], [46, engravings], [ii], [x], 4to, quarter brown Japanese silk with patterned paper boards with repeated Brender à Brandis design, backstrip with printed label, fine. A celebration by Crispin and Jan Elsted (of the Barbarian Press) of the detailed engravings of Brender à Brandis, illustrator, book artisan and champion of wood engraving in Canada, particularly through the curation of a highly influential touring exhibition in 1990. 'I decided to become a wood engraver one afternoon in either 1963 or 1964. I did a fern plant in just a few white lines. I thought it was a wonderful medium. The clarity of the impression, and the fact that even the smallest cuts into the block would print, delighted me.' (the artist's introduction).
