FIRST EDITION, line-drawn illustrations throughout, pp. xiv, [1], 209, foolscap 8vo, original dark green cloth, the backstrip lettering and device to upper board stamped in white, top edge green, John Farleigh dustjacket, sunned to backstrip panel and borders, light waterstain along lower joint-fold, very good. A very balanced and engaging assessment of contemporary design, designed as a popular guide to popular objects hoping to generalise both the accessibility and the application of an 'education in design'. The author, educated at Christ Church, Oxford, was the brother of artist Dora Carrington and principally known for his work in the field of book-design a subject not included in this work, though it is a handsome example in its John Farleigh dustjacket.
