Socializing The Three R's (1919)

Socializing The Three Rs is a book written by Ruth Mary Weeks and published in 1919. The book explores the concept of socializing education, which means integrating social and community values into the traditional academic curriculum of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Weeks argues that education should not only focus on academic skills but also on developing social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and community involvement. The book is divided into three parts, each focusing on one of the three R's. The first part explores the socialization of reading, the second part focuses on the socialization of writing, and the third part discusses the socialization of arithmetic. Throughout the book, Weeks provides examples of how socializing the three R's can be achieved in classrooms and communities. Overall, Socializing The Three Rs is a thought-provoking book that challenges traditional approaches to education and advocates for a more holistic and socially conscious approach to learning. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
