Item description from seller

5-7/8" x 8-5/8", xxxi + 313pp + printer's colophon. The name of a previous owner, the New Yorker editor Philip Hamburger, is written in ink on front free end paper, and indeed the back cover quotes from Mr. Hamburger's own laudatory review at the time of the book's original 1952 publication. (This copy is ex-lib. Edith [Hamburger] Iglauer, the writer.) Printed on acidic paper and bound in sewn signatures in blue cloth boards. Design on front panel and title block on spine stamped in gilt foil, now considerably faded / discolored. Jacket is heavily worn, with numerous tears and holes, with some attempts at repair with cellophane tape having been made in the distant past. Minor soiling / age discoloration, edge wear to boards, and the corners are bumped. Binding is square and tight. Dark blue? top edge tinting has become discolored / faded with age. Except as indicated, pages are age toned but clean and unmarked.
