Student's Companion to the Guide of the Perplexed By Moses Maimonides

The “ Student’ s Guide to the Guide of the Perplexed by Maimonides” lays out, in nontechnical terms that are easy to understand, the main ideas and themes contained in Maimonides’ famous Guide of the Perplexed, so that it can be read by an ambitious beginner, even a bright high school student. It provides a general introduction to Mainmonides’ life in outline form, the plan of the Guide, an outline of the guide, the philosophical background needed to follow Maimonides’ arguments and a concise chapter by chapter overview and commentary.

Ben Zion Katz is a Professor of Pediatrics at The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an Attending Physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Ann & Robert H Lurie Children’ s Hospital of Chicago. He is the author of over 90 original medical publications as well as many book chapters and editorials on medical matters. He has presented papers of Jewish interest at the American Jewish Studies Annual meeting and at the Herzl Institute. He has published articles of Jewish scholarship in Tradition, Jewish Bible Quarterly, and the Journal of Torah and Scholarship.
