Item description from seller

Fourth edition. Large octavo. A series of lesson pamphlets bound in the original grey cloth binder with cord. pp., 42, 23 [1], 32, 26 [2], 28, 47 [1]. Illustrated throughout in black and white. Cloth soiled with minor wear to spine-tips. Some soiling and foxing to fore-edges and endpapers, contents tight, secure and clean. Contemporary ink inscription indicating ownership by Colonel H. V. Hayward of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada to front paste-down. Early guide on methods of forensic investigation. At this time, finger print technology had just become of age and it was of major interest. This highly popular guide, with additional sections on early criminal profiling, shadowing, and extracting confessions contributed to the boom of private eyes in the 1920s. A compelling piece of early 20th century true crime history.
